Rainbow Cloud Kawaii Nail Design By Cre8

Here is the last video of the 3 created video tutorial in this
series of video tutorials I created to achieve the complete
Kawaii nail design I created for your fingernails. If your an
adult you may not like the cute clouds and or you may not
care for the Kawaii "cute" face.

In either case each of the videos were created separately with
that in mind. One could choose to just paint the rainbow, or
watch the 2nd video to learn how to create the fluffy clouds
and then this last video to learn how to add the Kawaii face.

Please note that these same painting techniques can be used
to paint the rainbows, clouds and or Kawaii "cute" face onto
any surface, not just your fingernails. Keep that in mind for
any of you who would love to create cute charms for your
kids or yourself. In Japan these Kawaii things are really
very popular.

I Created and Updated A New YouTube Channel Backgroud

I finally had some time to do some of my old craft "Digital Art" and decided my YouTube channel needed a new background. The old one was some what of a business card looking image that repeated itself throughout the page and basically said nothing about me or my channel. It had words like a business card saying everything I was into and what my channel was dedicated towards showing others but as a creative design example it really lacked "Me" in it. Now I am happy to say its up and while I am still looking to add some elements of design to it, IT ROCKS!

Hello a New Year and now 2011 - Happy St. Patty's Day To The Irish Folks!

Its been forever since I have blogged. I had allowed Facebook to get the best of me and let my guard down thinking that was all I needed to allow my followers a way to see what I have been up to lately. I WAS WRONG!!! While it may be a great way to keep in touch with family, friends and all you wonderful followers, they are always making changes and its driven me away from them. I am now back to concentrating on making video tutorials and linking to those tutorials from my blogs. There may be more than one way to skin a fish but I have to say Facbook lately is not the way I will choose.

Now I have my own website at http://www.tinycrafts.com however it requires constant updating due to many people I had linked to over the years who offered free tutorials, printables and lots of great free information but who apparently did not know a thing about proper web etiquette when it came to creating at lest a 404 error page or redirection link to their main page or other website when removing pages those links once pointed to. The result has been a mess of my website with allot of broken links or no longer hosted sites and thus their tutorials and information. I have to make time to redesign my site completely. Not an easy task since I now have Windows 7 which no longer supports the once used FrontPage which I knew well and loved to edit and create my website. Learning something new just has not been in my schedule, not the one I have been allowed anyhow.

So I am back to trying to maintain my time to fit this into the many other things I am trying to do. After all its in my best interests that I do as I not only have my own websites to design and maintain but some of you may know I do so for a few others. I have www.creativeminiatures.com and www.janezhaoarts.com, one of which is in desperate need of editing. There is not much time left, and I should not put it off any longer. Jane my Sincerest apologies, I hope after my taxes are done I can get to the learning of the new program and get your site redone, rather than updated.

For those of you who have seen my online tutorials on YouTube who may be saying, "well she seems to have time to make videos, edit them and upload them to YouTube", well your right, I can do all that while working as I have a job that enables me to be on the computer, have time to do things on the side that don't require much thinking like taking pictures of painting nail design steps on finger nails and editing those pictures to create the videos you see. I then while taking care of customers on the phone can be uploading those videos to YouTube so they can be seen. Hard work but easy to be done while working, while learning a new editing program has posed to be a big problem for me. Just when I am reading up on something and trying to brush up on my new web editing skills, my phone rings and I am called away, into something way convoluted and confusing as it is and then I am expected to find my place again where I was with teaching myself this new program. NOT FUN! I will get though all this through, I can assure you of that.

OKAY so that is all I wanted to tell you all. I hope you have not given up on me. I have some great video tutorials coming for some polymer clay creations and I will be sure to update you all when I have them where you can view them online. Hello October

I have been quite busy as life has its ways of making me work harder than I want and then there is the new things I am always trying to accomplish. I know I am a little late saying Hello to October since were almost already in the middle of it now, but my blog needs an update.

This month is my favorite month of all. Not only does it contain 5 each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but its of course the month that ends with my favorite holiday Halloween. I know being a Witch must have its benefits, but for me its just a way to express my inner child and Witch and not be looked at like I need to be baker-acted and or just thrown into some padded cell somewhere for nutting up (insert laughing). The Witch's Ball is taking place as it always does down here October 31st and I can't wait to attend. Bringing my wonderful hubby along and perhaps we will see things neither of us have ever before been able to witness. Pictures and more to come as the night quickly creeps closer.

Been on Facebook allot more these days, which is why I have not been posting as much here on my blog. Seems everything I do online, see and especially click on Like for is shared right there for my 1280+ friends to see. I love the internet and networking, its made my life easier in some ways and complicated things in others, like the lack of updating my blog or my website which is in a long awaited need of a major overhaul. My change over of computers to the New Windows 7 left me virtually unable to use programs that I had been and updating my site(s) has been put aside and time is never on my side to make a quick fix, or any fix for that matter.

Went on a Michale's Crafts Haul the other day, thanks to Hubby. Thanks also to the person who left both the Michale's and AC Moor's sales papers within a basket and fled the building. I was able to get a neat carousel of glass seed beads with tools, for 50% off the regular price of $27.99 thanks tot eh Competitors coupon and Hubby was able to get me the new Walnut Hollow Clay Extruder set for 40% off the regular price of 24.99 with the store coupon. A nice day of savings! Got some clay as it was 4 for $5. Not the prefered sale price of 99 cents but better than $2.49 and up since I prefer Premo which is slightly more expensive than the others. I got some sand art packs with various colors of sand for only 40 cents that will make nice colored sugar and such for minis, I got some Jewelry findings like split rings and French ear wires for hanging off my mini Flip Flops and other charms, and a neato tic-tac-toe dice game for only $1.29. I am expecting to have time to play with hubby ya know.

Now on top of all these things I have been doing and wanting as well as needing to do I have recently wanted to donate some of my charms to a wonderful organization that seeks to help people who wish to have Weight Loss Surgery and can not afford it or get their insurance to cover it for them. I met a wonderful lady on YouTube whom I am subscribed to and I recently found out she is going to be the 1st grant receipient to get the surgery she has been waiting years and years for. Her twin sister another wonderful YouTuber had the surgery and for whatever reason with the same insurance she was continually denied it. I am so happy for her I can not even describe my joy. The organization is the Wight Loss Surgery Foundation of America.

My mother had Rue-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery April 14th 2004 and she is a skinnier much healthier person today. She lost more than 250 pounds thanks to the procedure and I recommend it for anyone who has issues with whats referred to as morbid obesity. I can remember for years my mother trying to lose weight with all the televised and traditional methods but never getting approved for the later which she finally had the health-care that would approve and pay for it for health reasons. Now years out from surgery and having had lost all the weight she has skin and vanity issues because not long after they performed the surgery the health-care she had been receiving was no longer being accepted by the doctors who worked on her and cared for her pre-op and through only a few months post-op. Organizations such as the WLSFOA if even more exist need help and donations. I can not afford money but if I can sell my crafts and give a portion of the proceeds made from the sales to the organization then I can help.

So this is what I have been up to. I need to work on getting my etsy shop opened with an item or two to sell from there, and work on trying to get the word out about my crafts and creat8tions. Facebook will be a huge help, but I know my blog needs to be more a part of the process also. I need a fresh look of the blog, fresher look and update of my site, and all in all I need energy and time to pull it off LOL

Bacon Salt - My Quest to help my Hubby & I make Helathier Choices

Hello Craft-Stalker fans, I have to first appologize for not posting in quite a long time now. I have gone through a few changes with work that has me putting in more hours at work than there are in a normal day and I have also transitioned into a NEW Quad Core PC with the new Windows 7 and man has it been a mission to learning something new!

Hubby had been feeling very poorly in the last year or more and with no healthcare insurance and not allot of money coming in you just dont visit with a DR as much. He finally broke down and spent $140 for a doctor to have a look and see what might be the trouble....

The weight has always been an obvious issue, however the headaches he was getting in the last few months were enough to make him almost want to kill, I had to insist he find out what may be causing it. Not having issue swith allergies or anything in the past is not a good exscuse to even consider that being older and old age taking its toll can be a factor. What we may have been able to get away with when we were younger is quickly becoming rather apparent that were can no longer get away with it...its time we take control of what we allowed to spiral way out of control over the course of our 39-46 years of live here. CHANGE IS GOOD, so why not start with DIET...we will work on the excesize part later...lets take on 1 thing at a time for now.

So Doc suggests hubby go on a DASH diet. I immedietly think Mrs. Dash and with good reason, its uses throughout many different kinds of diets where LO SODIUM is the recommendation and taste is a desire many of have when thinking about eating, but who don't care for when its absent from what we choose to put into our mouths.

I've already am curious to try out the new Pardo Clay by Viva Decor, a new line of polymer clays that is beeswax based. Just recently introduced to the North American Market.

The distributor was kind enough to included some of the new Precious Metal Paints in Leslie's order to try. The new paints come in a collection of bright, metallic colors, that are mixable and seem to be created primarily with gold, silver and pearl mica pigments. Leslie said you can achieve a very high gloss metallic look with just one coat, even on black polymer clay. She works with miniatures and was impressed with the one coat coverage, and the gloss varnish finish that was nice and thin that they don't fill in tiny details!

Well this is the most informative of all reviews about this clay. I agree with everything Angela says here in regards to the clay, the stickiness, the appeal of the colors, the lack of colors available in store comparative to ordering online where you will have to pay shipping on top of an already expensive product, and the overall cost compared to the other clay brands, etc.. She does several test on the clay from stressing the clay bending it, using a laser transfer, then antiquing with paint, alcohol inks and finishing with Future Floor Acrylic wax as a finish. A must read if your interested in this product.

Testing The New Pardo Jewelry Clay Products

Garie Sims does it again this time with a few great and thorough tests of the new Jewelry clay Pardo marketed by Viva Decor.

Pardo Jewelry Clay is polymer clay, that needs to bake in an convection oven at a temperature of 275 º F (120 ºC to130 º C), it contains pure natural beeswax (as a plasticiser replacing phthalates) and premium pigments, its a more eco-friendly polymer clay.

Pardo Clay is available in 69 colours, from basic to various shades and tints, The colours are well produced it's very cool, wide choices for jewelry artist and other clayer.

I opened a Store - How Can I Advertise it? - Business Advice

You can sign up for Twitter and tweet about it (send a text message up to 140 characters in length, can include links) and let people who like the type of things you create know when you have new items up for sale.

Set your profile status on facebook to your store.

Advertise your store link in your signature for your emails and thus all your message posts to groups. (*General rule to keep your email signature to a maximum of three (3) lines of text). *Please note that when your posting anything to message groups and forums that everyone may have their own rules about advertising certain types of links from within your signature. Example: XYZ Clay Group on yahoo has an Official/ Dedicated supplier (one willing to give a discount off products to all members of that group in exchange for the privilege of having the groups membership base as their possible customer base) and thus you can not have links in your signature to a site or stores that may sell products of the same type as the official supplier.

Put the link to your store online in anything you mail, or post, make some business cards and be sure to put the link on them in a font that can be easily viewed. On business cards you do not need to have the http:// part of the website address printed, just the www. DebsStore.com should work great. You can get 200 FREE business cards through Vista Print for like $1.99 and the price of shipping or something, its like cheep and they are nice cards. I have heard of other services you can get cards from online and you may find some less that are even better. I know the free ones with Vista have their logo on the very bottom of the back with their info/link. A very small price to pay for FREE cards for just the cost of shipping, but your image speaks of who you are. Your an artist and you don't use cheap materials and supplies in your art, perhaps you don't want to send a message that your cheap on your cards. Many people will not realize this or even care, but there may be few in your own mind then you may not wish to go this route. I have heard different opinions about this.

Depending on what you sell you can create specials and advertise them where those types of products would be of interest and need.

If you sell supplies you might wish to create a class where you can in turn sell the supplies needed to complete the class.

Make up starter kits of clay and tools, and maybe include a little tutorial or 2 in free with purchase, etc..

There is always a way to make your product/sale/service/idea more desirable to others.

Think of contests to win things from you that you sell that can get others to help you advertise.

Submit your site to the search engines. Most are free and there are free services out there where you can submit your site to many of them with just a few clicks of the mouse and your keyboard. *TIP* You may wish to use a separate free email account like yahoo, hotmail, or gmail so that you can register with the search engines using the email you don;t mind getting allot of email to because all those search engines will reply, as well this email account now may be used for other purposes, after all you just registered your website with many of them for free, there has to be a catch somewhere, of course they may send you notices when its time to renew your free listing etc..

Tell your friends and family.

If you have a restaurant, store or someone you know that wouldn't mind allowing you to put up a flyer or a business card stand (can make a neat one in clay) and leave it with them. You could have friends put their names on the back of the cards so that if someone buys something from you they can get 10% commission or 10% off anything you sell, etc... give them an incentive and you never know what you can get others to allow you do.

Craig's List and other Free to post online community classifieds. Post your link to your site and what your advertising in your message, choose the category that's appropriate and hope for the traffic to start flowing in or if you leave a number your phones are beginning to ring.

I hope these tips help you on your journey to new store ownership no matter what it is your selling Deb. I hope this can help anyone trying to open up a business of their own and market their items/products, services or whatever you wish to deal in. All basically the same principles. Advertise!!! You will get it all back at the end of the year when its time to answer to Uncle Sam.

Life-Sized (full-scale) Dollhouse by Heather Benning

Well Mary, my friend and partner in the Air Dry Clay group we founded together online on Yahoo Groups, sends me this link. I am in awe over this and just had to post about it.

Still ...Two questions remain, though: (1) what would it look like if you populated it with poseable figures and (2) how strange would it be to try and live in such an enclosure?

As a miniaturist and person who owns a few "dollhouses" of my own I was intrigued by this wonderful find online and the images that show you from inside and out on this one blog, although there are many blogs online who have posted something or another about it. I also could not find a website for the wonderful artist Heather Benning.

Multi Colored Skinner Blend - Instruction Discussion

The questions was asked in one of my polymer clay message groups, how can you cut the clay for making a multi colored skinner blend so it will fit in the pasta machine from left to right (side to side) Horizontally.

Well I just happened to have made a multi colored skinner blend the other day. I figured I would just have to cut my clay smaller to accommodate the maximum width I could achieve within the allowance of the guides in my pasta machine (Atlas Mercado). Approximately 5 + 3/4". Everyone says 6" but its really not.

With a skinner blend you want to keep folding your rolled out clay up over top of itself, keeping the like colors vertically (up/down).

Like most new teachers who try to teach things in a hurry I left out the most important sample to show you by not taking a picture of the blend when it was complete.

However I did take a picture of the plug I made from the blend I had created. (See image on Left)

This is really a good way to condition many colors at once. As soon as you have made your skinner blend you can fold it like a brochure and then run it through on a thinner setting on your pasta machine to get a long strip of all the colors of clay.

You can fan fold it like I did in the image above, before creating the plug you see. You can choose to cut each colors at their end before its blend into the next color and just use the colors on their own now all conditioned for you and ready to use.

Here I just rolled out the plug above and was making it into a long snake. I later used it as a chop and toss Natasha Mix I made rainbow beads with my new bead roller sets from Poly-Tools.

I will show those off in a later blog post when I have finished polishing/sealing them.

"How can I make even strips of clay for weaving a basket?"

Okay the question was asked, "how can I make even strips of clay for weaving a basket?"

One of my answers was that if you had the added attachment that may have come with your pasta machine you could roll the clay out on the pasta machine and then run it through the added fettuccine attachment and get nice even strips of clay all the same width, and thickness. Length depends on how long you roll the clay out. You can make it as wide as your pasta machine and then run it through the attachment.

I had never before used this attachment. When I did though there was a little streaking of rust, but very little. Only warning those of you who might like to try this to run some scrap clay through it a few times to help clean yours up a bit.

Now I did this example/test with polymer clay because I did not want to mix up a batch of ADC just for this. None the less it worked amazingly well and I believe it would work for most other clays you would put through your pasta machine that at least had a nice dough consistency. Now I did not use talc or cornstarch or anything, just put it through the machine after a bit of conditioning and a few passes to make a flat sheet of clay through the pasta machine. If you have a clay that feels a bit sticky or tacky you may wish to give it a generous coating of talc or corn starch before running it through to ensure it does not get stuck in the slits of the attachment. It appears that there is not real way to clean it out if it should.

I then took the strips of clay and weaved them into the basket weave. Up, under, Up, Under, etc.. and then I cut it out using my large square cookie cutter as shown the collage above. It was a quick few passes with the clay to make the flat sheet and some of the strips of clay I used were not really straight so I decided to draw some lines on it with my needle tool and I think it looks pretty neat. Would make a nice piece as earrings, a ring, pendant, background for a cabochon, etc.. So may things I can see myself covering with these. There is an even smaller attachment on the other side of the fettuccine cutter side I need to try to see what it will cut. Have to wait till I have a bit more time on my hands. Still am late on my August baby challenge baby.

Other methods suggested was to use a paper guillotine, a clay gun with the ribbon disc or just measure, mark and cut with a straight edged tool of some kind.

Replicate Lampwork Beads With Clay - Tutorial

Recently I saw this and was in awe. I have seen what appeared to be lampwork glass blown beads created by another artist and I wondered how in the world did she get them to look that shiny. They were ovals with the centers cut out in the shape of round circles and the insides which I remember she referred to as "Inners" were the most beautiful of the beads she had created using this method I imagine. Nothing went to waste and the colors were just wonderful.

I would love to see anyones creations should they use this wonderful tutorial by Judy Belcher on Home & Garden Television.

Jane Zhao Rose Tutorial & Spotted Lily Petal Cane NOW ON DVD!!!

The very 1st real (beautiful) flower cane I ever made was a rose cane I made thanks to my good friend Jane Zhao. She is a member of my polymer clay guild and was teaching a class on a night I had planned on driving up and sitting in on the guild meeting to see how it was. Since I live far away from where the meetings were held and far from where Jane lives here in Florida as well as where she is willing to travel to teach I thought it a great opportunity to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and do both. I was taking a class from Jane live on how to make a rose cane from polymer clay. I brought in just the materials she requested, the colors were up to me what I chose and I beautiful rose cane was born, one of which I still have quite a bit of and use in my beads quite often thanks to the methods Jane has taught me.

Jane has just come out with two videos on making her canes. I hope they are just a coupe of more from her to come. She is such a wonderful teacher even though she herself thinks her English is not as good because she is Chinese.

She shows you how to reduce the cane for cutting and slicing into beads for a nice necklace she shows how you can make. She makes beads and shows you how you can roll your own beads by hand without using a machine, how to pierce the beads to make holes in them for stringing and how to use up some scrap clay as well as some other nice things like the skinner blend, using the pasta machine, a nice blend of clay for making a nice clear translucent clay and more. I do her website and she has been such a good customer always providing me with her products she sells like her wonderful wet dry color coded micro fiber sandpaper set. I got one of her most beautiful and should be famous for polymer clay beaded watch band watches along with a matching set of earrings. She made me another set of earrings that matched my website and I have a painting by her that was one that got her certified in Bob Ross oil painting. She is a wonderful artist but when it comes to polymer clay canes and replicating images in them she is a master and will take any image and make it into a clay cane.

This stuff is amazing from what I can see. Most cases you mix it with water so you get more out of it dependent upon use. I have seen it sold in Wall-Mart and it was under $3US for what I think was the 8oz size.

I like that it can be used for image transfers, not of photos but of magazine printed type images where you apply it to the image, leave it to dry clear and then let it sit in some water until the paper will be soft enough to remove and the image will stay which can be used for so many different applications. Not to mention decoupage, reinforcing those plaster molds to keep them from chipping, bonds wood, glass, ceramics, porcelain, marble, granite and so many surfaces for so many different craft as well as other helpful uses.

Do you use eBay to sell your handmade crafts and or other items? I don't know about you, but I know I want to see images of the actual item I am to bid on for eventual purchase should I win it, and or just whatever on a Buy It Now (BIN). With the new things set by eBay it seems they have implemented yet another stupid thing that can not benefit anyone who is worth buying from let alone anyone who may be doing the buying. Starting August 31st, 2009 if you don't opt out you may be allowing other eBay members to sell items and use your images in their listings.

Now some eBay users may not be effected by this opt in opt out nonsense, like eBay.ca (Canada) I have heard does not seem to have the option available in their member settings to opt in or out, at least not at this time. It is also believed that eBay is not making an announcement of this change and any user who does not go into their My eBay account and manually opt out will be automatically opting in by default.

String Art Pendants - Video Tutorial

Interesting way to make string art wearable art. Seems easy enough, not only that but learn how to make your own home made wire curler. Not sure of the technical name for it, but the thing that lets you wind wire into long coils. She uses a cheap simple bracket you can buy in most any hardware stores and some thick gauge copper wire. She then uses a thinner gauge wire to create the frame of the pendent and then embroidery floss to wrap the wire frames to create the string art. Use different colors of embroidery floss and or different wire frame shapes as well as different wire colors to get different looks and effects of string art jewelry.

PHOTO BEAD BRACELET TUTORIAL

This is a neat tutorial on how to make photo beads. Here shown in the tutorial is a bracelet however there are many other items you can make from these same type of beads. All you need is some images you can resize, some clear - see through (Non iridescent) marble 1/2's from the floral department of Wall-Mart or other home department or craft store. These are like mini magnifiers.

You need a printer for your computer to print out your resized images and glue one of each of the images to each one of each of the 1/2 marbles. Make beads with Fimo, Sculpey or other polymer clay and fasten a marble 1/2 with photo hot glued to the flat bottom on top of the clay bead. Fasten with clay.

Air dry clay I am sure can be used since there is no need to bake it, however I think that using a glue gun glue to glue the images to the marble 1/2 which is recommended as this type of glue because it will not yellow when being heated (Good tip to know). The curing process does something as it reheats and re-melts the glue so I believe there are no bubbles in the finished and cured bead.

Tips from Cre8:
Use different colors for you beads.
Try using cane slices.
Try making lentil swirl beads and then applying the 1/2 marbles with the images to make the beads.

They suggest making pins, magnets, key chains and other neat items. How about making a pen with a fat end tapering to a thin end of the pen and on the back (fat end) add a 1/2 marble with the image under it to the tip.

How To: Homemade Playdough

The smell of this stuff alone is enough to bring back my own childhood memories. I love this stuff. It will dry out in the air and beleive it or not is quite hard. I use the stuff to make molds for my polymer clay creations and it has a little shrinking that occurs which is quite nice since I love making miniatures, anything I mold from it does get a bit smaller once completely dry.

I do not know about this recipe as I have not personally tried it out but the real Play-Doh that I buy from the store is great for making molds and I have not seen any cracks in my molds. I have used cheaper brands of Play-Doh not by the original manufacturer and they shrink more and tend to have some cracks in some molds while some had none at all.

In addition you can now use Play-Doh with polymer clay cane production. You make the cane image and if you wish to keep the shape of the image like lets say a fish for example, you would wrap the surrounding areas of the fish with the Play-Doh rather than using translucent clay and or a polymer clay border. Most canes are round or square but the images within are the shape they take. By using the Play-Doh you can bake the clay canes so the shape remains for easy slicing of the cane. You then can wash off the Play-Doh from the existing polymer Clay image shape and the shape should remain without the need for a border.

This is great for the kids, its Summer so let them have some fun with something easy and cheep to make and easy to clean up after as well.

Drink Can Tinwork - Nice Recycle How To

Safety This project makes use of very thin sheet metal that is likely to have sharp, jagged edges and is prone to springing back.
Great care should be taken to avoid injury.
This project probably isn't suitable for children - and certainly not without supervision.

I see many possibilities with this one. I already have been using the aluminum cans to cut shapes from paper punches and I make plates and bowls, miniature prep boards etc.., I can imagine the Nice miniature trays and items that can be made using recycled cans.

Try taking the following tutorial and putting your own twist on it. Punch holes in the sides of the box and create a nice candle burner that will illuminate the light of the pattern of the holes you have punched into it.
Create a Jewelry set using the tame pattern you create on the box and include it as a gift box set.

This is a tutorial on how to make your own craft dough clay which is nice for making flowers and other things that you would and could make with polymer clay, Fimo, Sculpey, cold porcelain or other air dry clay. This is an air dry clay and its very easy to make using slices of bread. I have made some nice pins in the past using this method and I love the smooth finish I was able to achieve with the finished product. Once sealed with a basic glue water 1/2 to 1/2 mix the shine was incredible and I still have the pin I made many many years ago and its held up well.

Albums are easy to get from Freecycle, Garage Sales, Thrift Stores and you may just have a nice collection up in a closet in your house. Check the attic or that old storage shed. Sealing/Finishing Your Polymer Clay Creations

Many people seem to have the same question about finishing their polymer clay pieces. What type of gloss sealer to use on beads that will hold up against many years of wear against the skin, not turn your projects into complete clumps of goo or turn things yellow which in turn will not allow the true intended colors of what you create to show through the sealer.

I myself have in the past used Sculpey Glazes which come in Gloss Luster, Semi Gloss and and Matt. All work well for some creations and its air drying so you bake your items, sand them if you wish and then dip or brush on the Sculpey Glaze with the desired finish of choice. I recommend brushing on any sealer you use, as dipping items can cause large drips of sealer to build up on the ends and the result not only does not look very professional but those dried up blops of drips can more easily peal away from the item leaving it un-sealed and thus very unfinished in the long run. Many gloss finishes brushed on will leave brush marks if you do not use a good soft brush, but for those sealers you can put into the oven for a few moments at like 200 degrees (US) the heating will not only set the sealer on your piece but will eliminate any of those brush marks in most cases.

Now there are a few other products out on the market I have heard about using. Obviously everyone has heard of the "Future" Floor Polish. Its cheep for many and easily available for most people in most grocery store isles. Not if your me though, I couldn't find Future but found another product called Quick Shine and well I purchased it but only tried it out once and I really did not mind the finish but I really did not notice much of one either. It was the first time I was trying to seal something. The bottle is as large as the Future but sitting on a shelf collecting dust, at least until I do some more testing with the stuff at a later date.

Krylon Triple Thick is great stuff, not cheep though and it comes in a container much like cold cream would come in with a screw top lid. Thats if you can find the stuff. I have been to Pearl which is a major supplier of paints and glazes, glosses etc., and they did not have it. Told me to try Sherman Williams as they are the ones who create Krylon. You could use it right out of the original container or put some in a smaller container for quick and repetitive uses. Its a good idea to do that with any sealer you use often. Its easier to use in this manner you will find, clean up is easier to. Any unused portions can be kept in their original containers longer since your not opening and closing the containers constantly allowing air to get into it and eventually dry it out over time.

So since not being able to find Future, and not trusting the Quick Shine and not being able to yet find Triple Thick from Krylon, I just purchased from Michael's Crafts some Clear Gloss Glaze from Delta which is an Air-Dry PermEnamel (Says Step 3 on it) so I assume its a part of a few other steps for something, but I just got the 2 FL 0z plastic flip top jar. It says its for Glass, Ceramic & Tile. It says though that its not for surfaces with food, which I don't use polymer clay with food items anyway, but it says it cleans up with water and soap and takes 10 days to fully dry. I don't always have that kind of time to wait. But I do like the shine it gave the items I have sealed with it. Its small but only cost a few dollars. Not sure of the long term effects of what is coated with it.

Mod Podge. Yep the good ol' stuff for decoupage and other crafts that acts like a glue. If you ask me it is a watered down form of Elmer's white glue that dries clear. Which I have used with some success in the past for my Air-dry-clay like sculptures. I love the gloss shine it gives and I believe its water proof once dried completely but I have felt my beads felt a little magnetic like, as if there were sticking together. Oddly though they always pull apart with ease and no residue or any sign that they were sticking. Almost like static electricity was holding them as such. I used the one that is marked Gloss and has a dark orange label on the outside of it. Its cheep and you get allot for the money and it can be used for many other crafts as well as a sealer and or a glue.

Now many well known artists who create with polymer clay and who make allot of wearable art items are using MinWax Varathane.
Water Based Varathane Diamond Polyurethane Interior to be exact which is how the label might read. I am sure you can find it in any hardware store that sells paints and stains as well as possibly Wall-Mart which the one by me does have a paint department. I could go on and on and tell you about this wonderfully recommended product but I would much rather leave it to the wonderful Sarajane of Poly Clay Gallery as she has a wonderful write up about the stuff, her own use over many years and her own personal recommendation of it. Like anyone Sarajane has her opinion but she is regarded an expert in her craft working with polymer clay and her words to me are like reading the polymer clay bible. I trust what she says and would try anything she recommended. Her things are amazing and all look wonderful. Also she has an image up on her page about the varathane that shows you exactly what to look for when you go out to the store to get some of this great stuff.

Varathane Diamond Polyurethane

I have heard that MinWax PolyCrylic , (make sure it says PolyCrylic on it) can also be used. You can find this is Wall-Mart as well as any hardware store that should have a nice decent sized paint department. I have heard the PolyCrylic is less expensive than the Varathane. Not sure of the odor when using it though. There are two different sheens, Gloss and Satin. The gloss is preferred as the satin is nor of a semi gloss. It to is a water based acyclic made to protect hard wood decks in the outdoors, so its got to be good enough to hold up on your clay projects.

Remember any sealer or paint you use on Polymer clay should be water based and not have or be mixed with oils in any way or form. Polymer clay is an oil based product and mixing something with same type of components will melt into it and eat through and ruin details etc. It never hurts to test small items first to see whatever sealer you have will do.

Well this is from Silastones. A talented polymer clay artist who has made some neat slide show tutorials as well as there are instructions on making the wonderful Lava Beads using Rock (Coarse) Salt.

This artist like many others I have been finding lately do not have the FOLLOW feature within their blog page. I think they don't wish to be followed, but perhaps they do not even know what the follow feature is. Well without it I can not seem to add them to the list of blogs on Blogger I do follow. When I list blogs my followers can see which blogs I am following. This helps out everyone, so please if your an artist, or even just a blogger, please do Add the Follow Gadget to your blogs so you can easily be followed. Subscribing to your blog apparently is not the same thing.

In addition there is a tutorial for beads using 5 different colors which is cool and produced some really nice beads, and then there is the Skinner Blend Gane. Make a Frame for that thing and or make a shaved magic or whatever you call it pendant.

My Steampunk Vintage Watch Movement Ring - From Kevin Lindholm

It finally arrived. My 1st steampunk piece made by someone other than myself. This is a ring I posted about bidding on and winning off eBay last week. I wanted to get it first before posting anything about it. Well I have it now and I am ready to blog blog blog about it. Which reminds me I need to leave excellent feedback for this seller/artist.

First off the seller is scurved http://myworld.ebay.com/scurved. His name is Kevin Lindolm. I wish to add that I feel I stole this ring from him. I really do feel this way, its a beautiful piece of wearable art and I jumped into the auction at the last minute bidding and winning it for only $1.75 cents including shipping. I also want to add that the postage shows on the outside of the envelope as well as the delivery confirmation which was purchased. This artist/seller paid more for shipping this ring to me than I paid for the ring.

So my way of trying to pay this person back is to blog about it, and hope that my followers see what a nice piece of wearable art this is I received. Not only this but perhaps this person made a customer for life. I would certainly look to them as a seller on eBay or anywhere to see what they have in the event I needed to purchase a gift for someone.

One of the things I realized in what has happened here is this:

Some auction sites like eBay and most certainly on Etsy allows you to search for items by price range. Lowest price to highest, or highest to lowest. When you add an item with a low starting bid you get noticed. I have seen and heard on Etsy of people listing items for only 20 cents. When you know that is the cost to list that item alone, you wonder how can one list an item so low. Well its the price that the artist pays for advertising, because while you just found them because of their 20 cent listed items you will more than likely look around their store and see their items which yield a higher dollar amount for their purchase. Its a marketing tactic being used now since there are so many sites out there now which allow you an easy to set up store venue where you can unload your creations and supplies. ArtFire unlike eBay will allow you to set up a store and link to your outside website(s) and other stores, blogs, twitter account, etc..

So bottom line here is I am so so very happy with this ring. Its got lots of neat gears and even has jewels in it. It is not scratched or damaged in any way and I am really amazed at the quality of the watch movement itself, I love this ring!!! It also came in a very nice new red velvet ring box. Perfect for gift giving and ready to be given as soon as its received from Kevin in Fresno California.

I saw this and had to blog about it. Everyone who reads this right now has got to have a bill in their in their pocket and can try this. It looks pretty simple to do. I was thinking how nice it would be to use colored paper, or fabric and make miniature shirts for your dolls using the same folding steps.

Art has a new direction and when you see these from this guy your sure to sit in sheer wonder, amazed by his talents. I have seen this guys work before, passed through emails forwarded to everyone and then to me and back again. I think its best kept on the dudes website and then linked from here in my blog

UV Polymer Clay Art - Its Beautiful and It Glows!!!

You have to see this. So beautiful, just stunning, and the cane covered areas glow when the lights go out. I have never seen anything quite like this before, and thus I had to blog about it. Look what I won - June Baby Challenge

My June Baby Challenge Drawing prize came in from Tantie of Tanties Miniatures. She had volunteered the prize for the month in my miniatures group Miniatures Collectors Club on Yahoo. It was a fun challenge and I did it for the fun and to challenge my own abilities, not for the prize but boy was I surprised to have won something when my name was chosen from a hat.

In all fairness for a challenge the prize was won with a name being selected from a hat. Only those who participated had their name added to the hat. Each month a new member has volunteered to send a prize. Its a very nice gesture and one I certainly am appreciative for.

Tantie was wonderful in doing just this, and now as a result I have a beautiful miniature clothes pins hanging bag for my future laundry scene. Its complete with 3 tiny wooden clothes pins that have been stained. Such detail in such a tiny creation.

Tantie is a GSOLFOT miniaturist artisan. If you are not familiar with GSOLFOT it is a group of miniaturists whom have become quite well known in the miniature world as being quite creative for what they can do in miniature as well as bringing a wilder side to miniatures. GSOLFOT stands for GREEN SOCK ON LEFT FOOT ON TUESDAY. Its never made any sense to me just seeing or reading it aloud, however if my memory serves me correctly I believe they tell you what its all about from their website. http://www.gsolfot.com/. A new miniaturist Noni came up with it just making a comment about people signing her guest book on her photo site.
